Modern Styles
I started Modern Day Classic as a way to experiment with modest fashion in bold and unique ways.

I began my exploration of modest fashion a little over 7 years ago, while working as a high school English teacher. At the time many of my students were experimenting with their own style and turning to the internet for inspiration, and my goal was to fill a gap because I felt that modest, fashion- forward representation was missing.
Back then modestly was almost synonymous with plain and a quick google search for “modest outfit ideas” led to colorless capsule wardrobes, which is fine but not at all the way I wanted to show up in the world. For me, modestly didn’t mean being void of color or edge or personality. It meant deciding that not all of me was meant for public consumption, but the parts of me that were still deserved to make a statement.
One way that I began to do so was by accessorizing my looks with head wraps. With the use of head wraps, I was finally able to add the color, the edge and personality that I was looking for. It also didn’t hurt that it would mean that I would never struggle with a “bad hair day” ever again. Head wraps changed the way I viewed fashion and my relationship with me hair entirely.
In starting this business, I hope to inspire others to do the same! Be bold because you too are a Modern Day Classic!
